Your social video website which members can upload and share videos. YouTube was created in February 2005 by three former PayPal employees, Chad Hurley, Steve Chun and Jawed Karim. Google purchased YouTube in November 2006 for $1.65 billion, and operates as a subsidiary of Google.

YouTube’s current headquarters is in San Bruno, California. The technology that is used to display user’s videos is Adobe Flash video technology. Large portions of video content on YouTube are uploaded daily by individuals who register for an account. There are media corporations, and other organizations who offer their videos using YouTube as part of a partnership program.

You need to have an account with YouTube to upload unlimited number of videos. Before registering for an account make sure to read YouTube’s Terms of Use, Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The uploading of videos containing defamation, pornography, copyright violations, and material encouraging criminal conduct is prohibited by YouTube’s terms of service.

It’s easy to register for an account, go to http://www.youtube.com – click on Create account in the top right hand corner of the website and it will take you to a sign-up page. Fill out your information and your account is created. It’s that easy! I’ll be creating How-to videos soon.
